[...] I love words and literature and also tattoos, one of my new favorite blogs is Contrariwise.org, an excellent blog of literary tattoos. Yes, I know, I linked to it already, but bear with me. [...]
Oh, hey - that one is mine.
I got it done a year ago, after a fairly shitty mental headspace finally lifted. It’s to remind me that I can’t keep worrying about doing things - I have to go out and do things because what I’ll learn is more important than any bumps and bruises I pick up along the way.
I also have this tattoo on my wrist. I wrote Neil Gaiman a letter assking him for one of his favorite quotes to go on my wrist, and this was one of three he sent to me. Mine is facing me, with his initals at the bottom.
How about this quote “Unless you spread you wings, you have no idea who far you can fly” ?
Not sure I’d want to get a tattoo of it, but I’ve always rather liked Gaiman’s quote:
“Life is a disease: sexually transmitted, and invariably fatal.”
