Its an old maori proverb meaning “turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you”.
Need I say more.

Now that’s an amazing piece of work. Even more so considering that the Maori tradition of tattooing is so integral to the history of the art form.

Hey! Can I ask where you got the translation? I’ve seen that quote around a lot in english and trying to find its original maori form, but I’m getting a lot that are all quite different from one another, I figure you must be quite certain getting it tattood! :)
