Although the world of tattoo is populated with literally an infinite number of portrait images, few have transcended their particular individualistic symbolism in the way that the image of Che Guevara has. Theoretician and tactician of guerilla warfare and a prominent figure in the Cuban Revolution, Guevara’s death at age thirty-nine, which happened while he was fighting for Communism in Bolivia in 1967, helped to ensure his lasting fame. A photograph taken on March 5, 1960, by photojournalist Diaz Gutierrez, of Guevara wearing a black beret with a star and an uplifted but somber gaze has be- come the one of the best-known portraits in the world. It has become synonymous with Communism, as well as violent revolution. Tattoo Design http://www.tattoobody.org

Yes… and Che did die for it…

What’s now to show for it is a bunch of punk teens wearing his face on “alternative” t-shirts.

Deep. Truly. And very original.

if che had his way, all non-socialistic parties would have been oppressed. he was the antithesis to free speech, ironically enough
