- Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five

i’ve always been one to worry about stupid, pathetic things. reading slaughterhouse five helped me to realize that no matter what i do, no matter what stupid mistakes i make, no matter who dies, no matter what celebrity gets breast implants, NO MATTER WHAT – life goes on. so it goes.
I think I now have the definitive Internet collection of “so it goes” tattoos.

So it goes is the aliens idea that person is only dead in these moments but not in other in the past which can be revisited through time travel or memory. It also keeps a tally through the book of amounts of death that war brings, showing its inevitability. While what you say is true I believe for me that its meaning is more specific to death. I’m getting this tattoo tomorrow; what a coincidence.
