So it goes.

“So it goes.”

- Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five

This tattoo was submitted by Rheanna:

i've always been one to worry about stupid, pathetic things. reading slaughterhouse five helped me to realize that no matter what i do, no matter what stupid mistakes i make, no matter who dies, no matter what celebrity gets breast implants, NO MATTER WHAT - life goes on. so it goes.

I think I now have the definitive Internet collection of "so it goes" tattoos.

  1. What font is that? I've been wanting to get a Vonnegut inspired tattoo for some time and the font in this one is really nice.

  2. So it goes is the aliens idea that person is only dead in these moments but not in other in the past which can be revisited through time travel or memory. It also keeps a tally through the book of amounts of death that war brings, showing its inevitability. While what you say is true I believe for me that its meaning is more specific to death. I'm getting this tattoo tomorrow; what a coincidence.

  3. just got this on my ribcage. i really like your font…google-ing this BEFORE getting the tattoo might have been wise. hah.

  4. You have an asshole on your arm ^_^

  5. Oddly I never googled this before I got it tattooed on my rib cage a few years back. perhaps I should have. So it goes.
