This tattoo belongs to Kristen.  It is the scarlet A (The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne) with a harpoon through it (Moby Dick by Herman Melville).

Hey Caitlin, Moby Dick and The Scarlet Letter are two of my favorite novels, and I love the intense friendship albeit short one of Melville and Hawthorne.

Hey Kirsten I just had to comment – that’s a fantastic tattoo. I was thinking of getting a Melville-inspired whale for a while but worried that it’d be too obscure as an image. I know what you mean by their friendship, its an ingenious idea to mix the two!
