This tattoo is on a friend of mine, whose knitting wares you should peruse.
Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Ah, is it wrong that this made me think of The Outsiders first? I say nay.
I love this! one of my favourite quotes (and I also first read it in ‘The Outsiders’!). It looks great handwritten too.
My eighth grade teacher made us memorize this poem when we read The Outsiders, and it has stuck with me still. Love it!
