Life is real!

This is Tyler’s tattoo from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s “A Psalm of Life“.

Life is real! Life is earnest
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

I got it because this poem has always spoken volumes to me and serves more or less as my maxim for living life day to day.

If I should ever get a literary tattoo, I’ve set my heart to have these “Psalm of Life” lines:
Act,— act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o’erhead!

We should be friends. =) I adore Longfellow, and I love this tattoo!

There were so many lines in the poem I wanted to get, so it was really hard to decide on just one passage. If I could have gotten the whole thing I definitely would have haha.

Wonderful font :)

What font is this? I’ve found it really difficult to find one with an ‘f’ that I like. This one works really well.

Love it. This is an amazing poem; it helped me get through my uncle’s death last summer.
