Argos

This is Anna's tattoo.

This is a tattoo I had done a couple of years ago of Argos, Odysseus' dog in The Odyssey. I love the little side-story of the dog waiting for his master to return and being the only one who recognises him so much that I had to get it tattooed. There is nothing that makes me smile faster when I get home than my own three Argoses waiting at the door, tails wagging.

  1. An inversion of letters in the title.

  2. ;-) for the comment above.

and for the tattoo, sorry but i admire your feelings and your story and your love for your dogs, the artwork in itself is not bad at all, but, in my opinion, the location is awful.

but it’s your tattoo, and you are wearing it, so it’s your choice ;-)

    • Hi Jo. Why do you think the location is awful? The artwork is a direct copy from a book, and I really like the style. The shading was the tattooists idea, and I think it really completed the image.

      • sorry, english is not my mother language, so maybe “awful” is not the right word i was looking for. this is not a place i would have sth tattoed, but, again, i respect your choice. and the tattoo itself looks really nice, you can feel love in it

        • Oh, okay. I chose that spot because it is so private and can accommodate a larger tatt. I didn’t want it on my back because then it would be difficult for me to see without a mirror, and that’s who the tattoo was for, me. Unless I am wearing swimmers, the most anyone else can see of the tattoo is just Argos’ feet, and that’s only if I’m wearing shorts. I like that it is private. I also have a tattoo on my foot that is easily covered and so a lot of people that I know or work with aren’t even aware that I have any tattoos.

I don’t mind that you don’t like the location, as you said it’s my choice. I’m glad that you didn’t just trash it, and that you were respectful. :)

  3. What a great tattoo – I really admire your choice :) I love this story too, glad to know that I am not alone

  4. I have a Greyhound named Argos because of how much I’ve always loved the loyalty of Argos when I read The Odyssey! This tattoo definitely made me smile!
