These Harry Potter tattoos belong to Sharon and Chris:

My husband, Chris, and I got Harry Potter tattoos on the same day. I got a Golden Snitch on my thigh which might serve as the basis for a larger Harry Potter piece around it. Chris got a Dark Mark replicated right where it should go: on his left forearm. He claims that it no longer burns, but I’m not so certain. ;)

For the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the bookseller where I bought my copy handed out some gifts. Among these were some Bertie Bott’s, HP-style glasses, and a lightning bolt temporary tattoo. I carried this little stick-on tattoo for several years in my wallets, bags, etc until one day I just decided to get it tattooed on my shoulder as a tribute to the book series and its characters with whom I’ve grown up.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is officially in theatres today! How many of you already saw it at midnight?

These are Zena’s Harry Potter tattoos:

Lumos is on my left wrist. It is the spell from the Potter books that illuminates the caster’s wand tip.

Nox is on my right wrist. It is the spell that extinguishes that very light.

They not only represent the Harry Potter series, but also the fact that everyone has both light and dark inside.

I decided to get the golden snitch because it’s such a simple object, and yet it has such significance later in the series. I chose the sketched, black and white version to stay truer to the books. I’ve been reading Harry Potter since I was 9. It’s the longest commitment I’ve ever made to anything. I don’t know if that’s sad or not. Haha.

My tattoo is a lightning bolt for many reasons, the foremost of which is Harry Potter. I often say I love Harry enough that it’s almost frightening. Harry Potter was the common ground that led me to my best friend, and when we used to write notes in high school, I’d sign my name with the lightning bolt. It became a symbol for Harry, friendship, and my love of reading. I had a lightning bolt charm that I wore as a necklace for years and years, and the tattoo is that necklace.

These are three little stars that appear on either end of the chapter title at the top of every page in all of the Harry Potter books. I got this because it is not a blatant reference to Harry Potter, but more of a secret one that only people that have read it will recognize. The series has a lot of personal meaning for me, so I thought an understated tribute would be appropriate.

My mom read me the first 4 books before she passed away & Harry Potter was always our thing. Then when the 5th book came out, I didn’t want to read it because I had always associated it with my mom and she wasn’t there to share it with me. But then the 6th book came out, and I picked up the 5th one, read that and then the 6th, and there was no looking back. I remembered why I loved Harry Potter so much. When the 7th book came out, and I read the part about Dumbledore, my mom’s favorite character (and one of my own haha), leaving Harry the snitch in his will, and the message left on it, I knew that this was something special. It always kind of toyed around with it in the back of my head. So then I went for it, and got it, and I love it. It reminds me of my mom, and Harry Potter, and the things she didn’t get to read, but I know she would have loved.

“The Snitch I caught in my first ever Quidditch march?” said Harry. “Don’t you remember?”
Hermione looked bemused. Ron, however, gasped, pointing frantically from Harry to the Snitch and back again until he found his voice.
“THat was the one you nearly swallowed!”
“Exactly,” said Harry, and with his heart beating fast, he pressed his mouth to the Snitch.
It did not open. Frustration and bitter disappointment welled up inside him: He lowered the golden sphere, but then Hermione cried out.
“Writing! There’s writing on it, quick, look!”
He nearly dropped the Snitch in surprise and excitement, Hermione was quite right. Engraved upon the smooth golden surface, where seconds before there had been nothing, were five words written in the thin, slanting handwriting that Harry recognized as Dumbledore’s:

Since I dislike the text the tattoo artist used (looks like a USDA stamp to me), the tat is going to be edited. A circle of blue fire will cover the original text and the words, “Mischief Managed” will be appear at the top of the tat.
