This tattoo belongs to Michelle.

This tattoo is from Stephen King’s The Dark Tower Series. The images and quotes are from various books in the series. I chose these quotes, because of how beautiful I find Stephen King’s writing to be.

“The mild, spicy smell of old books hit him, and the smell was somehow like coming home”

“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.”

The quote is in typewriter font.

“Best not to look back. Best to believe there will be happily ever afters all the way around – and so there may be; who is to say there will not be such endings? Not all boats which sail away into darkness never find the sun again, or the hand of another child; if life teaches anything at all, it teachers that there are so many happy endings that the man who believes there is no God needs his rationality called into serious question.”

The Gunslinger

Literary Tattoos: The Gunslinger Stephen King Illustrations Dark Tower Series

This is Blair’s tattoo.

It is from The Gunslinger, the first book in Stephen King’s The Dark Tower Series. The Image is the chapter-head and the Text is the first line of the book. It has always been my favourite opening line. In one sentence all the essentials are laid out. We are told that the man in black’s primary characteristic is a kind of sinister ambiguity, whereas the Gunslinger more than anything else is defined by his guns. Furthermore, while the man in black flees, the gunslinger doesn’t chase, he follows, hinting at an almost mechanical patience and stoicism. Additionally… it looks badass.
