Good Omens

This is Joni’s new tattoo:

It’s a quote from the Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett book Good Omens and it’s from the Dramatis Personae portion where Crowley is being described.  I decided on the quote because it made me smile, and maybe felt like it described me a little bit too.  The font is good old Courier – I wanted something that would look like it was lifted from the book.

Literary Tattoos: Terry Pratchett Neil Gaiman Good Omens

“An Angel who did not so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards.”

- Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

This tattoo belongs to Katta from Bremen, Germany.

It’s my first and it is a reference to Terry Pratchett who mentioned “multiple exclamation marks” in some of his Discworld novels. I’m a huge fan and wanted something unobvious which I had drawn myself.

Literary Tattoos: Terry Pratchett Punctuation Exclamation Point Discworld Series

“Multiple exclamation marks,’ he went on, shaking his head, ‘are a sure sign of a diseased mind.” – Eric

“Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind.” – Reaper Man

“And all those exclamation marks, you notice? Five? A sure sign of someone who wears his underpants on his head.” – Maskerade

Literary Tattoos: Terry Pratchett Discworld Series

This tattoo of DEATH (and DEATH OF RATS) from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Series was submitted by Lisa:

I was introduced to Terry Pratchett’s work via a number of friends a few years ago and became totally enraptured with his work. While not typically a huge fan of sci-fi, Pratchett’s humour, satire and quirky way of explaining how the world works appealed to me muchly. It wasn’t until I found a pencil print of DEATH by the Pratchett approved artist, Paul Kidby, that I knew I had to get this done as a tattoo. Out of my twelve tattoos, it is my most favorite and it is also the one I get asked about the most.
