About the Author

William Shakespeare was born on April 1564 in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon, on England s Avon River. When he was eighteen, he married Anne Hathaway. The couple had three children their older daughter, Susanna, and the twins, Judith and Hamnet. Hamnet, Shakespeare s only son, died in childhood.

The bulk of Shakespeare s working life was spent, not in Stratford, but in the theater world of London, where he established himself professionally by the early 1590s. He had a successful career in London as a playwright and actor and was a shareholder in the acting company the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later known as the King's Men. He produced most of his plays between 1589 and 1613. Sometime between 1610 and 1613, Shakespeare is thought to have retired from the stage and returned home to Stratford, where he died in 1616.

It was great to read an unaltered version of Shakespeare's classic play. It was an enjoyable read an now I have this play at my convenience whenever I want. Always a great read.

In my opinion this is one of his best comedies. It's simple and presents good morals in the end win the game (some people may not like it, but art should give people hope, and this is what it does).

A Midsummer Night's Dream is my favorite of Shakespeare's plays. I have read numerous others, but it has remained my favorite since I read it for the first time in 8th grade (just for fun, it wasn't a class assignment that time).
There is romance and jealousy. There are mischievous, conniving fairies. There are characters whose only role is clearly comic relief. What more could one want from a play?
While it may not be as deep as some of his other works, this play is fun and entertaining.
I have reread it several times and plan to do so again.

Next to "Much Ado About Nothing" this is my favorite comedy. Have this on your Kindle for those times you want a witty quote from the Bard himself. Great for pleasure reading or for reference.

Just love this book. I will never understand why some people have problems with the English used and get the modernized one instead.

Shakespeare's funniest comedy and one of his masterpieces. It contains two of the most farcical scenes in the theatre: the confrontation between the four lovers in the wood in Act 3, and the staging of the play-within-a-play 'Pyramus and Thisbe' in Act 5 by Bottom and company. Shakespeare explores the nature of love (lust, infatuation, devotion etc) and rings all the changes on being able to tell reality from illusion (think the Matrix). Magnificent.
